Very unique and uncommon sabre training mask from the 1st World War. This mask is made of very heavy cow hide and intensely soldered metal. It is in remarkable condition and could still be used today. The piece has an interesting shape to deflect blows and is marked/stamped F.H. Ayres, 1915. The business and factory of Frederick Henry Ayres, manufacturer, was situated at 111 Aldgate, London. From 1854 the firm build its reputation for its high-quality sports goods and board games. This antique is untouched and in superb condition and could be considered a showpiece. One example from the same year recently sold on eBay for $675 US.
